Day Program: Aide

Summary

A Day Program Aide is responsible for working with Lead and Program staff to assist participants in having a successful and fulfilling day. With the support from Lead Staff, an Aide will assist the participants with crafts, activities, and outings that help to further or maintain the participants functional, cognitive, social, physical, and work skills. Outings occur daily, and include activities such as bowling, swimming, eating out, volunteering with community partners, and visiting the pumpkin patch or other seasonal venues.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision and leadership of Lead or Program staff:

  • Help participants with crafts and activities focused on developing and furthering functional and cognitive abilities, improving quality of life for adults with varying intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Helps participants to participate in activities furthering independence, social skills, self advocacy, work skills, physical fitness, and communication skills
  • Help participants in community access outing and volunteer opportunities
  • Provide necessary guidance / support for health, safety, and hygiene (if needed)
  • Assist in setup, supplies, and clerical tasks
  • Communicate maintenance requests to leadership
  • Participate in maintaining working relationship with community partners
  • Participate in water activities with participants

Requirements

  • CPR / First Aid Certification preferred
  • Able to work 7 hours per day: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Physically fit – able to walk and exercise for 25 minutes, lift objects of 25 lbs, assist clients who have difficulty navigating uneven terrain, able to quickly move to assist participants if needed

Additional Info

  • Closed on all recognized holidays – extended closure for Christmas & New Year
  • Part-time (2-4 days) a week and full-time (5 days per week) available
