Day Program: Program Staff

Summary

A Program Staff member leads and assists participants in crafts, activities, and outings that help to further or maintain the participant’s functional, cognitive, social, physical, and work skills. Inhouse activities include exercise, crafts, movies, celebrations, and walking, Outings occur daily and include activities such as bowling, swimming, the library, eating out, volunteering with community partners, and visiting the pumpkin patch or other seasonal venues. Program staff, working with Leads and Aides, ensure the day program runs smoothly and event free.

Responsibilities

  • Leading participants in activities focused on developing and furthering functional and cognitive abilities, improving quality of life for adults with varying intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Leading participants in activities furthering independence, social skills, self advocacy, works skills, physical fitness, and communication skills
  • Leads participants in community access outing and volunteer opportunities
  • Supervise participants & provide necessary guidance / support for health, safety, and hygiene (if needed)
  • Assist in maintaining required records such as attendance and notes
  • Communicate maintenance requests (facility, vehicles, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining working relationship with community partners
  • Participates in monthly and weekly planning

Requirements

  • Has experience working with adults with I/DD
  • Able to work onsite 35 hours a week: ~ 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, M-F. Part-time options possible.
  • Clear driving record & able to drive company vehicles to/from outings (van, small shuttle bus)
  • Able to participate in water activities with participants
  • Physically fit – able to walk and exercise for 25 minutes, lift objects of 25 lbs, assist clients who have difficulty navigating uneven terrain, able to quickly move to assist participants if needed

Additional Info

  • Closed on all recognized holidays – extended closure for Christmas & New Years 
  • CPR / First Aid Certification (will be provided if needed)
  • Hourly or Salary options available
