House Parents are the core care providers and house manager. They live in the house and their full-time job is to live life with the residents being their mentor, coach and care providers. House Parents are supported by relief staff who are individuals or couples who regularly engage in the home. Relief staff help provide weekend or special event support.
This differs from a Shift Model where staff works a 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts in a rotation. The Shift Model is typically found in larger facilities rather than family-style models. We operate using the House Parents model to create consistency in a family atmosphere and low staff turn-over.
