Residential Living (8)
Residency is a 1 year agreement, renewable annually. That means you can live here a long time. If you decide to leave before your renewal, a 30 day written notice is required.
House Parents are the core care providers and house manager. They live in the house and their full-time job is to live life with the residents being their mentor, coach and care providers. House Parents are supported by relief staff who are individuals or couples who regularly engage in the home. Relief staff help provide weekend or special event support.
This differs from a Shift Model where staff works a 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts in a rotation. The Shift Model is typically found in larger facilities rather than family-style models. We operate using the House Parents model to create consistency in a family atmosphere and low staff turn-over.
Minor assistance means they can generally care and dress themselves. They may need assistance in one or more personal care activities such as detangling hair, putting toothpaste on their toothbrush, opening packages, or cutting food.
Family Dinner is a special event planned by the residents where they invite their family to their Stacey’s Place home for an evening of dining and fellowship. This occurs twice a year.
Time at Home is planned weekend where residents return to their home to reconnects with their family. This is similar to a collage student coming home for the weekend. Time at Home happens for all residents on the same weekend to ensure all have family time, included the house parents.
Basically, it’s a House. At Stacey’s Place, we believe living in a House is far better than living in a Facility…in Room 23w on the 2nd Floor of the D-Wing. We literally buy a house, obtain all the proper city, county, & state permits, add all the regulatory life-safety fire alarms and gadgets, go through all the inspections and subsequent construction changes so that we can create a “private home-style facility“. As a Personal Care Home, we have mountains of policies & procedures to keep the residents safe and maintain county, state, and federal compliance, but in the end, it looks and feels and runs like home.
Residents receive a weekly allowance. While they are in charge of how they spend that money, they often need assistance in planning and accounting. The House Parents keep accurate records of the money to ensure financial accountability and to inform the parent or guardian of the their spending habits.
Our rooms are semi-private – that means the room is setup for 2 beds and 1 bathroom. So you will probably a room mate, but of course you will have a place for closes, a bedside table, a chair, and other things all your own.
